Cow farts collected in plastic tank for global warming study! WTF?

This is something weird. Did you read that? Cow farts are collected in plastic tank’s for global warming study. :o WTF is happening to these people on earth. Not actually the people but these senseless scientists/researchers. They say that due to the slow digestion that takes place in cows, makes the cow to produce methane (as a releases of its unwanted gas) and hence a cause to global warming. So they mean to say that the cow must stop eating what it actually eats? Balls to them! :-l

And Argentina is supposed to have more than 55 million cows grazing, which is a fact and hence for that the Argentine discoverers have to say;

Methane from cows accounts for more than 30 per cent of the country’s total greenhouse emissions.

So what’s the big deal now? They ought to say that they are not even going to spare animals? This is so lame. They should first find out the way to reduce CO2 produced by human population by vehicles, industries and other sources than to think of something else. I feel so ashamed of this…

And also by seeing this video, I think one day for sure they will say that animals fart is best for fuel source… :| Screw them… Idiots!!!

    Such kind of research goes on. But it hasn’t been proven yet.

    A couple of years ago, there were several rumors about cell phones damaging the brain ….. Till now, it hasn’t been proven!

    I may seem like a party pooper, but it seems people still don’t know that cattle belching is a major factor causing greenhouse emissions.
    Ruminants cause more harm to the ozone than the vehicles and CO2 emissions by humans. Don’t believe me? Google it up.

    Yet, there is the human aspect to this too- increasing prosperity in humans is causing more meat and dairy consumption, thus encouraging cattle rearing. More and more farmlands across the globe are being converted to livestock pastures to feed the hunger for meat. According to a UN report, livestock occupy nearly 30% land on earth.

    As for the cow-fart experiments, scientists do seemingly weird research all the time. They’re coming up with a growth hormone may reduce the greenhouse emissions that equals taking 400,000 cars off the road.

    One way to reduce these cattle emissions is to go vegan!:)>-

    Oh ya methane.. I had heard of such cases a loong time back! It would be cool if they fart into a can and that can is distributed as cooking gas :-?

    PS: I like the smileys :d/

    Hmmm…there is another accusation by America that India and China are biggest contributors in global warming cuz of rice cultivation. Paddy as u know requires standing water and that generates methane.

    @Suda: LOL… Control yourself. Too much of laughing is too bad.. :P

    @Manasa: Ya, what you say is also right. But this thing what they have done is just too lame!

    @Obei: Switch to vegan? LOL.. I guess none of the non-vegan’s would prefer to do that. Its just too difficult. But anyways nice comment you have given. It does have some useful info regarding this topic. And also thanks for dropping by. :)

    @Balu: I love these smileys too… Especially this one > :D

    @Dinu: :-w grrr….

    @Rekha: hehhe.. Ya ya I know what happens when this type of weird stuffs are printed in the paper. We also used to have hell lot of fun during coll days. We used to get Bangalore Mirror and sit and crack jokes like idiots while the class is going.. :D Teasing each other and stuff :P

    @Reema: Ya, I know what that problem is. I have couple of FWD’s regarding/similar to that topic. And they have no ones else to blame other than us. They don’t realize what mistakes they are doing. (I hope you got to know who “they” refer to).

    Well, it’s not entirely wrong. I mean they can do studies and ascertain the causes but I don’t think they’ll actually stop the animals from eating what they do. After all, where will they get their milk and beef if they stop the cows from eating?

    I actually like Balu’s idea. That could really work well because we desperately need alternate fuels in here.

    @Nik - You want to stop farting and do what? Like burp it out? Eeeeks! :P

    @Vishesh: Hehee lol.. and thanks BTW… :)

    @Ish: Hmmm… there are so many other ways available for producing fuels. Well, I don’t think that is a good idea.. :-?

    @Nikhil: LOL… who asked you not to fart… :P

    I will tell you another interesting fact. The fart released from an African Elephant in a day can provide enough fuel to make a car to travel 20 kilometers.

    Several years ago, I heard a radio report (on a reputable pubic radio station in the USA) that diary farmers in California actually used the methane produced by cow farts to power their farms. The farmers attached large extraction fans to the roofs of the barns in which the cows were kept. As the cows farted out the methane, that precious gas was sucked up via the fans, filtered somehow and the methane was then used to power the various buildings and equipment used on the farm. I thought that was pretty ingenious — and environmentally friendly too!

    I heard this too and I watch animal planet, so I saw the video few times. I was surprised, that they have there such video, because I did not know that that thing was proven, just like somebody above already mentioned. Yes, cows produce green house gasses, but imagine, how much people live on the planet and how much those gases we produce. Will we wear those methane catchers too? ;)
    I think that if we had more forests and more trees, this biological waste would not be as big environmental problem…
    Yes, those farts can be used and also their excrements can be used as a source of energy :-) In the end, cows will look like the most environmental friendly animals, because they will be the source of food and “clean” energy :D

    If it’s true that 30% of the emissions in Argentina are from cows, that is amazing!

    Judging from the amount of beef people eat here, I can believe it.
