Happy Blogging :)

First of all, thanks to Rekha for providing a useful link in one of her blog post. Landed up on your blog from nowhere (forgot from where I came) and read this post and found a link to another useful post. Thanks for that.
Well have a peep into this post which made me think like a professional blogger for the first time. (no, I’m not saying that I have become a professional now… /:) )
When I started this blog, (less posts) I thought visitors and readers are more important. I must some how get more and more visitors to my blog (every new blogger aspires it. Not just me). As time went by, I never bothered about the visits that I get. Readers would comment if they wished to and if found my posts interesting. Well, most of them realize it very late, I realized it very soon LOL…

Well I guess even Priya had made this point to me in one of here comments. (I thought about it a bit later :P;) Patience is what you need. Most of all the bloggers (newbie’s) are disappointed on not getting visitors and not receiving any comments. I guess you need not be. You’ll never be bothered about you stats after a few years… I bet..!

Here are some tips I would like to share with you:

  • Post things that are interesting and not long posts all the time.
  • Always stick to Original (At least to your personal blog)
  • Read and comment on others blog. (Most important)

If you have read the post which I had mentioned above, Amit says that you need to post atleast 5-7 posts per day. Well I don’t think so that many numbers of posts are needed for a personal blog…or do we? Whatever it is, newbie’s shouldn’t worry about their blog stats. As time goes by, you’ll get everything…Have patience and that’s the main key to success as I have learnt.

P.S. Well, ok let me make one note. I am not a professional blogger to give tips. The tips mentioned above are just for reference and are to what I have experienced. It would help your blog in some or the other way (If you think it is useful, I’m happy) and ya, don’t just depend on them…DUH!!!

Happy Blogging… :)

EDIT: I have no intention in making money with my blog. I just wanna be a respected blogger…. :)

According to what I believe, personal blogs can’t help you earn a lot. Professional blogs have some particular topic, you know. Something technology based or politics based. Expecting someone to pay for reading your personal life doesn’t make sense to me. You can earn from the ad’s but then that would not be a lot. You’ll need to be something great if you wanna earn from a personal blog, that’s what I think.

And yes, patience is important. You won’t ever get many visitors as soon as you start. WordPress does give you a headstart thanks to their SEO with Google but still, not a lot of hits should be expected. If you are talking about popular things such as maybe dance shoes, cricket etc, then visitors will turn up.

    @ Ish

I agree with you, but at the same time,I need to tell you why ads are there on my personal blog.

I don’t expect a lot of money, from ads. I put ads there, to see if I can get something to cover my hosting expense.. that’s all … and I am sure, you have seen me playing with ads and themes all the time.. ;) I work in the Webhosting industry, so it helps @ work also …

The bottom line is, personal blog can’t earn you much, until it grows out to become something else, more than a personal blog

    good post..
well i have been blogging since june last year and over the months there has been lot of changes in the way i see blogging..
i started with a zero idea abt blogging then wanted just visitors i used to write many commercial posts. ..bothered lot abt hits .. I check stats once in a while now too :P well they are kinda motivation factor.
but i feel that regular readers are more important.. their comments adds keeps reminding u that u are not alone.

thats the way i feel..but opinions change :).PATIENCE IS THE KEY .

    @ Arvind

You made a great point there.. your regular readers, or say subscribers to your feed matters the most, they are those who believe that, each and every post you write is important. If you take it to the next level, readers who read, comment, come back and check the post again.. they are your most valuable readers :)

@Dinu: But still I don’t prefer running ads on a personal blog…Well if it is a tech blog.. I wouldn’t mind it.

@Ish: That was a good comment Ish. Running ads on a personal blog is a bad idea unless you are a professional and get a flood of visitors to your blog.

@Dinu: What you say is also true. But for people who are using free services from WordPress or Blogger should not bother to earn anything (unless they really wanna make some money). But for people like me, who have to pay for hosting as well as for a domain, ads are need. But not on a personal blog. You may start another tech blog and earn through that. That might have a greater potential. And moreover you work in a webhosting company. That would make your job even more easier… ;)

@Arvind: Thanks :) Yeah, somewhere or the other you feel like peeping in to your stats to see how many hits you’ve got today…(LOL why do you think there is an Alexa widget on my sidebar :P ) That’s ok, but after years you really wont care about it. And ya, you made a good point saying that regular readers are important. Thats very true. But as far as your contents are good, no worries… :)

    @Dinu: Well said.. :)

@Reema: Thanks for sharing those links… The post form Blogadda is very useful for newbie’s as well as for an “amateur” :)

And atlast not to forget as I have said before also… Have patience. This is an awesome quote I found on Sandeep’s blog.

Whatever happens, happens for good. If not, have some patience!

Hope this would reflect some newbie’s….
