Happy Independence Day to one and all! It’s now been 61 years since India became an independent country. Time to celebrate… 
Now the interesting part! If you are a Times Of India newspaper subscriber then do check out the 4th and the 8th page. Have a clear look at the ads. Yediyurappa (surprisingly found him on wiki), the Chief Minister of Karnataka, (Ad) says that it is the 62nd year of independence on page 4 and 8. Is he an illiterate or something?

Dude, it could have been a typo on TOI’s side you know?
I don’t think so da. There is another ad by a politician on page 19. How come that is printed correctly?
And moreover, that Yeddy’s ad is printed on two different pages with different topics. And that ad is given by the Govt of Karnataka…

i.e. say the year which is beginning 
This confusion happens every year.See the logic behind is that if u count like in birthday we do..India completed 1 yr in 1948 and so on. Then it comes out to 61 years of Independence or 61st Independence day. But actually India is a country not a human which became free in 1947 itself so why not count 1947-1948? So that makes 62nd Independence day, 15th Aug 1947 being the 1st Independence day. In Government matters this maths is followed.
