Ok here’s a small lesson that everybody (somebody) must learn. Just taking it as an example to explain what is the message I would like to convey.

Intro: There are three members in a family. The father, the mother and their son.

Scene 1: Once the mother took her son to the market to buy some vegetables. As she was the only costumer at the shop, the eyes of the vendor were on her. A couple of minutes later another costumer came by to the same shop. The man was diverted his attention by the second lady and he turned the other side. The mother who was collection some vegetables, slowly put some in her bag. The son standing next to her is observing everything what is going on. As soon as the man turned towards her she started to pick other vegetables and bought a few of them.

The Diamante (dea-man-ta) is a poetry pattern invented by Iris M. Tiedt. It is a style of poetry that is made up of six or seven lines which usually is in a form of a diamond when aligned centered. I just gave try and composed quite a few poems. I tried my best with it and came up with 4 poems. They are all made up of seven lines and are based on one topic and that is“Relationship” . I hope you people would like it. :)

Friend
Kind, good
Loving, caring, helping
Enjoy, party, destroy, hurt
Jealous, wicked, greedy
Hatred, bad
Enemy

Father
Cheerful, Happy
Thinking, working, earning
Car, money — TV, Books
Loving, caring, helping
Kind, grateful
Mother

Brother
Stylish, brave
Earning, spending, earning
Gentle, Benignant — kind, good
Earning, spending, earning
Beautiful, intelligent
Sister

ABC*
Clever, Beautiful
Speaking speaking speaking
Make-up, Dress — style, looks
Listening, listening, listening
Cheerful, handsome
XYZ
*

*ABC and XYZ are couples. So you can add up names who are in love or something like that…

Also, ABC is a female person and XYZ a male… DUH!!!

Let me explain how to read and understand it. Let me take the last poem as an example. There are 2 nouns here; one ABC and the second XYZ . That makes the first and the last line. The second and fifth line are adjectives where words here describes the nouns… The third and the fifth lines are the participles (words ending with -ing ). The center line again contains four words and all are nouns. First two describing the first noun and the other two describing the second noun.

Thanks to Sean Pollock from whom I learnt this. She is just amazing (she is just 14 :o ) and has put up a brilliant tutorial on how to learn poetry. ^:)^

There are varieties of such poems that can be learnt. Click here if you also are interested in learning them.

I’ll be also coming up with different kinds of such poetry. But before that I want to know how these sound, so that I may continue it by learning by my mistakes. :)

P.S. Poets out there, please forgive me if I have composed it in a wrong way. You can always correct me though. BTW these are my first ever poems I have composed in my life. So please excuse me if I am wrong somewhere… :-ss

EDIT: As Shrinidhi had asked me to explain this poem in normal English, I have done it by taking one poem from the list and here it goes….

Brother
Stylish, brave
Earning, spending, earning
Gentle, Benignant — kind, good
Earning, spending, earning
Beautiful, intelligent
Sister

Ok, This is a poem related to my brother and my sister.

Brother, who is stylish and brave. Who earns and spends it and earns it back again (money). Who is gentle and also benignant.

Kind and good, who also earns, spends and earns it back; Who is beautiful and intelligent is none other than my Sister….

Ok, I hope you got the idea now… :)
