The Lords of `83

The 25th of June 1983. No Indian cricket fan can forget this day. The day when India won the 1983 World Cup against England West Indies at Lord’s which was marked as an unforgettable moment in the history of Indian cricket.
Here’s a glance to the members of the `83 Indian World Cup team:
Kapil Dev, the captain of that World Cup winning team; Sunil Gavaskar, an incomparable batsman; Balwinder Singh Sandhu, the man who started it all by bowling out Gordon Grenidge; Syed Kirmani, the finest wicketkeeper India has ever seen; Yashpal Sharma, one of the most astounding heroes of the ‘83 triumph and the charismatic Sandeep Patil.

Hence to celebrate this graceful moment, Vijay Mallya the proud owner of the United Breweries Group together with the BCCI have joined hands to honor the winning team of the `83 World Cup to mark their 25th anniversary of this cricketing milestone on the 25th of June, Wednesday. Also said that the team will be on a tour to Lord’s on 25th to commemorate this special day and later a dinner will be hosted by the UB Group for the team in London to provide the event a perfect ending.

Wish they would collaborate to appreciate our hockey team too. This is how they create dissatisfaction and propagate discouragement among other sportsmen.

Kapil’s Devils! yay! After all the recent bullshit in the news about the BCCI not wanting to recognize Kapil Dev because of his involvement in the ICL, it’s heartening to see this happen.. They truly deserve it…

Thanks for dropping in to MirrorCracked earlier…
